EID in Education Training 
Emotional Intelligence is widely acknowledged as a critical component of interpersonal and professional effectiveness. However, additional dimensions of Emotional Intelligence are required to bridge the complex differences that exist between human beings in pluralistic educational environments. This training program presents a new paradigm of the critical intersection of Emotional Intelligence and Diversity and gives educational leaders an opportunity to gain insight, skills and tools to build cohesive respectful and inclusive school environments that make the most effective use of differences and leverage the power of emotions.
Objectives:
- Gain an understanding of the role that Emotional Intelligence plays in leadership effectiveness in diverse campuses
- Assess selves in Emotional Intelligence and Diversity competencies
- Gain insight about own values, beliefs and biases
- Learn methods to manage emotions triggered by differences
- Gain knowledge about cultural differences and others’ values
- Develop strategies for building inclusive, harmonious, respectful and inclusive campus environments
- Minimize bullying and cruelty on campus

Affirmative Introspection: Know and Accepting Yourself
- Gaining insight into the values, world views and beliefs that influence you
- Uncovering and dealing with the assumptions and biases that impact your behavior
- Increase self comfort and confidence
Self-Governance: Gaining Mastery over Your Emotions
- Gaining tools to manage difficult emotions encountered at school
- Converting unhealthy self-talk to productive messages
- Helping staff deal effectively with change and ambiguity
Intercultural Literacy: Understanding the Range of Human Behavior
- Learning about cultural differences that impact campus dynamics
- Appreciating the “software” of others on your staff and in your school community
- Developing empathy as a step toward building trust and connection
Social Architecting: Structuring a Compelling and Respectful Environment
- Reinterpreting behavior to build understanding
- Gaining tools for effective feedback, difficult conversations and conflict resolution
- Creating an inclusive, healthy, hospitable and engaging school climate

The goals of this Emotional Intelligence and Diversity process for educational leaders are to:
- Provide leaders with practical knowledge and tools to be more effective with a diverse
student population
- Improve ability to cope with and resolve conflict
- Create a more respectful learning environment and campus
- Gain skills that empower staff and students to manage their emotions rather than allowing their emotions to manage them
- Improve communication across lines of difference – racial, generational, gender, ethnic,
socio-economic and cultural
- Increase resilience and motivation in facing obstacles and struggles
